COD range
The optical path length is selected using the expected concentration range and water matrix.
Monitor changes in organic load continuously using UV absorbance for process control, environmental observation and industrial discharge projects.
PUVCOD-900 and PUVCOD-600 measure 254 nm UV absorbance and correlate the optical signal to organic matter and COD. The relationship depends on the water matrix and site calibration. It is especially useful for trends and continuous control, while regulatory comparison should follow the project’s approved laboratory method and calibration plan.
The optical path length is selected using the expected concentration range and water matrix.
Define the site samples and laboratory reference method used to build or verify the correlation.
Review suspended solids, oils and cleaning requirements for the optical window.
Specify analog outputs, relays, Modbus RS485, cable length and panel requirements.

2020 · Zhao’an, Zhangzhou, Fujian, ChinaIn December 2020, multiple online analyzers were installed to provide continuous organic-load, nutrient, solids and process measurements for plant operation.
2023 · Jingmen, Hubei, ChinaIn July 2023, water-quality stations and pollution-source monitoring points were installed to observe river conditions continuously and support restoration work.
2022 · Yangjiang, Guangdong, ChinaIn August 2022, an unmanned monitoring boat was commissioned for all-weather, automated multi-parameter surveys across the river and lake area.
2020 · Tangshan, Hebei, ChinaIn 2020, immersion sensors were installed to observe organic-load and supporting water-quality indicators continuously within the fountain basin.
The optical UV absorbance measurement is reagent-free. A site-specific correlation and routine verification plan may still be required.
PUVCOD-900 covers 0–2000 mg/L with a 2 mm path, 0–1000 mg/L with a 5 mm path, or 0–90 mg/L with a 50 mm path. PUVCOD-600 covers COD 0–1000 mg/L plus turbidity 10–1000 NTU with a 5 mm path, or COD 0–100 mg/L plus turbidity 10–300 NTU with a 25 mm path.
