Treat UV COD as a calibrated site relationship
A UV sensor measures absorbance, not the laboratory digestion reaction itself. Its value comes from continuous response and the ability to correlate absorbance with the organic-load indicator used by the site.
Build the correlation with paired samples covering low, normal and high load. If the source or industrial discharge composition changes, review the relationship instead of assuming the original calibration remains valid.

Does a UV254 sensor measure laboratory COD directly?+
No. It measures UV absorbance and can report a correlated organic-load or COD-equivalent value when the water matrix and site relationship are suitable.
Why is optical path length important?+
Path length controls the amount of absorption seen by the detector. The selected path must fit the expected sample absorbance and concentration range.
How should a UV COD analyzer be validated?+
