Range and cell constant must match

Conductivity changes widely between purified water, drinking water, wastewater and brine. The sensor cell constant determines the useful measuring range, while electrode material and temperature compensation affect stability in the actual water matrix.

Confirm these conditions before selection

Expected range

Provide normal, minimum and maximum conductivity, not only a single design value.

Water chemistry

Confirm corrosion risk and whether 316L, titanium alloy, CPVC or another material is required.

Temperature

Specify operating temperature and the reference temperature used by the control system.

Output

Choose a conventional probe and transmitter or a digital RS485 Modbus sensor.

Conductivity selection questions

Why are several cell constants available?+

Different cell constants cover different conductivity ranges. The range and water matrix should be confirmed before selecting a sensor.

Can the sensor connect directly to a PLC?+

The PEC-500B provides RS485 Modbus output. Conventional PEC-500 series probes are paired with a suitable transmitter or controller.
